Arrow Buying Guide

Finding the right type of arrow can be a difficult task to do. In this blog we will tell you about the main types of arrows used in the industry today.

Aluminum

It came into being used as an arrow shaft in the early 70s. From then till now it is the most common type of material used. It has a lot of advantages that include: light weight, inexpensive, weather resistance, extreme starightness, etc to name a few.

Carbon

It had a very small diameter when it was introduced the first time. The problem with them was that they were prone to split upon an impact, rendering their usability difficult to tune. But they have advanced considerable today. They are much like fishing rods of today. The best thing about carbon is their speed because of their extreme lightness. They have also become cheaper in the last couple of years.

Wood

They are mostly used by the re-curve or the longbow shooters. They have been here for as long as you can remember. The best thing about them is that they are inexpensive, accurate and heavy, thus able to transfer enough amount of power to the animal and durable enough to be used many times. A thing to note down is that they are not meant to be used with high velocity bows that are available today because they can split upon firing.

Hybrids

Aluminum and carbon hybrids provide a unique arrow design. They have become too much popular among the archers these days. They provide the best stiffness to weight ratio. They are the straightest arrows on the list. They feature a small diameter with a light weight shaft that is made of aluminum. The best thing about them is their easy removability from the target. The only disadvantage is that they are costly.
